11/12/2023 0 Comments Honda odyssey battery drainingI really want to keep this car for atleast 6 years. I bought my van for the safety record and how it is supposed to be so reliable- I hope this isn't a sign of things to come or else I'll be forced to turn it in at the end of the lease, even though I don't want to. ![]() I am hoping we won't have to go through this long drawn out problem and I won't have this problem again. I am having my hub take it to autozone to test as soon as he gets home from work (we are stranded at home right now). It has worked fine until today when I was going to go pick up my kids from school, same thing. So after about the third try he got it started. I go to start and everything starts blinking and all you could hear was this shorting type sound- I call my brother to come give us a jump after I had talked to the dealer and they said it sounded like the battery. (10/18) I get back to my car from picking up lunch while the kids and hub are in the car watching a dvd. I have a 07 Odyssey that I bought when they first came out late 06. I'm split down the middle of whether I am glad others are having this problem or concerned. If we get a better answer from the dealer on this problem when we finally do the five hour test we will post it online! Good luck all! There should be enough batteries to power the electric doors, the Video for the kids and the electric seats for hours before draining the battery - poor design and engineering. We believe that this is a symptom with these mini vans that with all the electronic stuff the battery can't handle it. They also suggested we go to Walmart and carry in the back of the van one of those portable jump start kits that contain their own battery. They also said that leaving the key turned to the Alt setting drains the battery real quick.so not to do that. They said they need to run a 4 to 5 hour test to see what could be doing it. The Honda dealer said they've heard of this problem before. Both triple A and the Honda dealer said the battery is fine. We had to call triple A three times for jumps and even were lucky enough to be at a gas station and got jumped there for a forth time. ![]() Wow! It is so good to see we are not the only one's with the problem.
